Have you ever wished that the holidays would somehow forget your address when it came to town and just drive on by? Or that you could just skip it all together and hope next years is better? Or find yourself asking your spouse, "How 'bout we take a cruise next Christmas?" :) That's how it seemed this year. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed our time with our family but the christmas spirit just seemed to never have arrived for us. We kept playing our Christmas cd's over and over again, singing aloud to Bing and Harry Jr and Mariah but nada, nothing. Maybe I feel this way due to the exhaustion of traveling so much in such a short time and with Grandpa Miller spending Christmas with Jesus this year, the mood was melancholic for Kimi and her side of the family (but they made the best of it). Christmas is usually my favorite holiday of the year and with it not being much fun, that didn't help with us getting in the mood for holiday cheer. Maybe next year...
Well, at least Makenna made out like a bandit in the present dept this year. We had to fill the SUV three times just to get all her toys home! I even had to leave my guitar with my dad b/c he had more room to bring it home! Haha You should have seen her eyes when we put her down on the ground and she was surrounded by her toys all around. They were in a state of awe. :) She couldn't decide which toy to play with first! All in all her first Christmas was sweet for her because she got to see all her Grandma's, Grandpa's and lots of family members and just laughed and enjoyed it the whole time. The problem came when it was time to open presents, she SLEPT THROUGH THE ENTIRE THING! All three times, she was awake for like 2 minutes and then, ZONK, she was out until it was over. See the pic to the left? Yeah, that proves it right there! I'm sure that will change next year...
Guess who has made it to a 1/2 year old? Yeah, (as if it were some wild suprise), our little girl has just passed 6 months old on the 29th of December! She's starting to do all kinds of new things, such as sitting up on her own! She's also starting to regress in other areas, such as sleeeeeping through the night! Oh how I wish that one would come back... Speaking of sleeping, can anyone offer up any advice on how to get her to sleep through the night? We thought we had it down but the past week or so she can't stand to be in her crib for the whole night. Our unofficial medical sources say that she is old enough to not need to take a bottle in the middle of the night, that her little stomach can make it through just fine. But Makenna is trying to prove otherwise, waking up at all hours of the night crying for a bottle. We even make sure she takes a BIG bottle right before she goes to sleep but to no avail. Also, she is having a serious bout with object permanance (IE. that when mom and dad are not in sight that they aren't really gone) and she can't stand when we leave the room. She'll be asleep and breathing deeply and you lay her down and it's whailing time again. The only means of getting her to sleep peacefully through the night is to have her sleep with us in our bed (and that's not good for Kimi and I!). She sleeps with her hands behind her head, as if to say, "Ah, this is the life..." So you can see our problem. Any advice you could offer up for our little loved one to be able to sleep IN HER OWN BED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE NIGHT, short of just flat out ignoring her cries (which we've tried but failed), would be much appreciated. :)
That game was insane. We lost in overtime to a "statue of liberty" play on a two pt conversion. Seriously! So crazy. It started in the 4th qtr with OU coming back and scoring and having to get a 2pt conversion to tie the game and we did on our 3RD TRY!. Then the very next offensive play, OU interecepted the ball and returned it for a TD to put us ahead by 7 with 1 minute left to go. They came back with a hook-n-ladder play that led to a TD right before time expired in the 4th to tie it up and send us into overtime. On the 1st play in OT, Adrian Peterson took the ball 25 yards to the left for a TD and we kicked the extra pt like a normal team would. Up by 7. Their possession, got the 1st down, threw a td pass to score. They were down by two. They ran a fake pass to the right (their receivers pulled it off perfectly by "jumping" for the ball that wasn't even thrown). Instead of throwing it, the QB took the ball down and put it by his butt and just held it there while continueing the fake throw. Then the RB took the ball out of his hand, and took it to the pile-on on the far left and we didn't have a defender that wasn't blocked on that side. So sad, they ran the 2pt conversion in and beat us by 1 point. We were heart broken. We scored 25 pts in the 4th qtr to get the lead and we lost it on a trick play in OT. That's just how our whole season went too so it was fitting. There are a lot of people calling this game one of the greatest of all times. I just wish we were on the winning side of the conversation. Anyway, here are a couple of links that you should check out when you get a chance. Pretty interesting, esp the video in case you missed the game.

Kim and Jason,
We went through the same thing with Boomer. Ron nearly had to restrain me to keep from picking him up. It may take a few tries but turn the monitor off and let her cry. It tough to hear you baby cry but it has to be done. She needs to learn how to self sooth - it will also help with clinginess. Anyhoo...I recommend going to walmart.com baby connection if you haven't done it yet. They have some articles with good advice and how Mak is supposed to be progressing. Hope all is well and talk to you later.

Can a football game be really good and really awful at the same time? This one really was! I think the funniest part was watching you, Terry and Guy celebrate silently...and when Terry ran out the door shouting "Boomer Sooner!" Too funny! Hope y'all are enjoying all the ice! I made it home safely yesterday, my prof. let us out at noon, thank you Lord!

Good catching up with you today- glad you're doing well. I forgot to tell you- check out the movie "The Good Shepherd" when you get a chance. It's the best movie I saw all last year.
