And the name is...

"This is from the day we found out we were going to have a baby!"

The big news is that we're going to announce the name we've chosen but you'll have to read through to the end first to get to it! :) Good times.

Last Thursday, Kimi and I went to the baby doc to get our checkup done on the baby. The baby's heart beat sounded normal once again, which is still a relief everytime we hear it. (Sidenote: The baby is now not only kicking but is "pushing" so you can feel Kimi's belly bulge to the side sometimes. It's quite interesting.) We also got the results back from Kimi's blood glucose test to see if she had "gestational diabetes"... NOPE, no diabetes, everything was normal again. Thanks for all of your prayers that it went well. :)

It was at this point the doc told us it was time for another ultrasound to check up on our little girl and to see if Kimi's possible case of Placenta Previa had dissappeared. I thought, YES, more pics of the baby. As we got into the parking lot, we immediately called the hospital to schedule the u/s and begged for the earliest available time. We were able to get in the next afternoon!

We called Kimi's Grandma and Grandpa and invited them to come along to the ultrasound with us. You see, when they had Kimi's mom, ultrasounds weren't available. So we thought it would be a nice thing for them to see our little miracle on the tv screen. Good times.

They got us in and we got 2 realllly good pics and another one that's not as great but looks like she's going to have LONG legs! Haha. I'll show you below. The tech who was doing our u/s said that Kimi's "placenta previa" is gone which is an answer to prayers as well. And as far as the bab is, the doctor says she's growing according to schedule. She is now 3 pounds 6 ounces and is in the 56th percentile for her size -- pretty much right in the middle of the pack. Kimi is 30 weeks along yesterday, May 23rd, and with the size of the baby now, the doc said we might be a week ahead of schedule, having the baby in late July instead.

By the way, at 3 pounds 6 ounces, our baby now weighs MORE than Kimi did when she was born. Kimi was a premie (spelling?) and spent some time in the NICU herself but other than some mental lapses now and then she's perfectly healthy. (Kimi, I was kidding about the mental lapses... or did you forget already? J/K)

Anyway, Here are some pics for you all to enjoy.

"Okay, this picture shows 100% that it's a girl! They said look for either a hamburger or a hotdog. That's definitely a hamburger alright..."

"Isn't it amazing? You can see what her face is going to look like! I think she's going to look like Kimi."

"This pic isn't very clear but she is completely stretching out her leg."

Okay, so here is what you were all waiting for. What are we going to name her now that we know 100% for sure it's a girl? We've completed her baby room now so I think it's only appropriate to show you with a picture of the room included. And the name is...

"Baby Makenna's room as shown by her beautiful mom!"

Makenna Grayce Fox

So there you go, the big news. We are going to have a baby shower on June 10th from 2-5pm. We are sending out invitations this week. If we somehow missed you and you would want to go, just reply to this post and I'll give you directions. We are registered at Babys-R-Us (#92833013) and Target (#011003993347054) in case anyone is interested. :)

I saved the best picture for last. I took 3 pictures from each of our ultrasounds and combined them into one single picture on a timeline showing how much she has developed since December. I truly hope it blesses you as much as it has blessed us. It really puts things into perspective on the miracle of life that God has allowed us to be a part of.

"The miracle of life. This picture shows how Makenna has grown since December 2005."

God bless you all.

Vacation 2006

Your vacation is supposed to be a time of rest and relaxation. Most of the time, it's just lying back, feet kicked up, sun in your hair and a pool (or ocean, if you are Kimi) nearby. We didn't quite get to go to the ocean this time but we did get a little bit of pool action in Texas. It was a busy week and full of fun so I'll start at the beginning.

We headed down to Texas on Friday, May 12th. I was late because literally as I was closing down at work, we lost power and I was trapped in the dark for about 45 minutes until they got the power restored. Haha It wasn't too bad except going on vacation late. (Apparently after I left, there was a BIG flood in the shop area and it flooded the branch! HAHA Yeah, glad I left before that happened!)

On Saturday, we got to see Mission Impossible III! Tons of fun, though it wasn't quite as good as the second one was. Lots of twists and action, my kind of movie. Too bad Felicity died, quite tragic. The rest of Saturday was lots of pool time and good steaks for dinner. My father-in-law Jerry can cook some mean steaks, though he did drop one on the ground, which he thankfully claimed as his own steak so we didn't have to eat it! Haha

On Sunday, my brother-in-law Ben and I went to a gun range at Bass Pro Shops. I've never been to a gun range before so as you can imagine, I was VERY excited. We started out at the closer targets and steadily moved them back. Although I don't have picture proof of it, we hit the bullseye almost every time. Even at the football-field length targets! We were amazing. You would have been shocked at how good we were. Even the manager of the store asked us how we were able to hit our mark so many times. Ben and I said it was "beginner's luck." Haha But seriously though, we were dissapointed because the 300-foot-away target was the one we were most interested in and it FELL OFF THE TARGET HOLDER at the end of the tunnel! So, until anyone can prove otherwise, we hit the bullseye every time! :)

Monday night, we got to hang out with my cousin Brent and his wife, Elizabeth. They are expecting a baby boy in October. If I can remember right, they are thinking of naming him Caden William Fox, very cool name. I'm afraid I'm going to call him Caedmon instead but that's just me. Haha We saw their new house and were amazed at their decorating skills! Not the boxes everywhere but the paiting of the walls and new appliances and such. It looks awesome. We are so excited for them!

Tuesday, we went to the aquarium in Dallas. I had SO much fun there! Maybe it was the THOUSAND kids that were surrounding us (The ticket lady said there were 1300!) that got me excited but still it was a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures from that day...

There are a lot more pictures but who wants to look at those anyway. Haha

OKAY, Our really big news post is coming up so stay tuned! :) I hope everyone isn't wilting from the crazy heat wave we are having in Okla. Geez...

Praises and Prayers

There has been so much that has happened this past week. I'm sorry I haven't been able to write but I think I have a chance today to go over some of it. We'll see. :)

First off, I have to tell you guys about my best friend's wife, Wendy. As many of you know, when she was pregnant with Lilyanah, she was having major abdominal pains which were not going away. The doctors, after testing and whatnot, decided to induce labor to minimize any chances of harm to the baby. On January 17th, (also my dad's birthday), Lilyanah was born weighing just 4lb 9ozs. She spent the next several weeks in the NICU while she was getting healthy enough to go home. But things were much worse with her mom. The next day after Wendy went through labor, the doctors went in to see what was going on with her abdominal section.

That's when the bad news came. Wendy had a softball-sized mass in her intestines and masses in other areas as well. It was cancer... and it was spreading fast. When the doctors had found it, they estimated it was only less than 3 months old and it was one of the fastest growing kinds there was. I'm going to give you guys the short version but you are more than welcome to check out the entire story on their blog by clicking here.

After several trips to the doc for rounds of chemo, and with numerous prayers from brothers and sisters in christ across the nation, they just found out yesterday they Wendy is CANCER FREE!!!!!!! Talk about a miracle! Trust me, I saw the pictures of the cancer inside Wendy when I took my trip up there in February. It was one of the most nightmarish pictures I've ever seen. I will NEVER forget what it looked like. And to hear that God has cured Wendy? Man, I'm tearing up even now as I write this. Congratulations Wendy! What a serious blessing! God still has major plans for your life Wendy and I cannot wait to see what He has planned! I am so happy for you. What a hero you are for your family and baby girl.

Wow, okay, what's next. Oh yeah, my beautiful wife walked across the stage last Friday night, May 5th. It was a great day. She dressed up in her cap and gown and walked (gracefully) into the world of being a "grown-up". Haha One quirky note about that night: We went to eat at On The Border right afterwards and during dinner, we saw a drunken Chad Stevens running around. You know, the guy from the Fowler Honda commercial's? "C'moooooon!" Haha He kept going back and forth to the bar and his table. Quite funny.

Some more baby news. Kimi had to take a glucose test last week to see if she has "gestational diabetes". It was an hour long test where they made her drink a cup of almost pure sugar and waited to see how her body reacted. She said it tasted like super sweet fruit punch. Apparently the baby thought otherwise because Kimi said she was kicking like crazy the whole time she was there! Our baby's first sugar high, awww... Haha

Well, she didn't pass the first round so they had her take it again. She went in yesterday morning and this time it was a three hour test. The gave her the sugar drink again, the baby went crazy once more, and Kimi watched "The View" until her time was up. They stuck her 4 times and withdrew blood to see how her body was reacting over time. We don't have the results back yet but we would apprecaite your prayers. We don't know what happens if she actually does have gestational diabetes and we hope we never have to find out either!

We do have one more prayer request. My dad's father-in-law who lives in Prague, OK, passed away this past week. It's a really tough situation for them right now and they could sure use everyone's prayers. If you want to send an email with your thoughts and prayers, you can send it here.

Kimi and I are heading down to Texas this weekend for much needed time away from home. Hopefully, we can see Mission Impossible III this weekend! I've been going crazy waiting to watch that movie so hopefully it's all that it's cracked up to be! Hope you weekend is a great one too!

I just loved this picture of our dog Hudson. He does some of the funniest things sometimes. Haha Enjoy!

Quiz

Here is a test a good friend of mine sent to me. See how you all do! Don't cheat either! Make sure you keep track of your answers b/c when you click forward, it doesn't tell you what you chose, it just says what the right answer was.

I got 15 out of 20 right, about 75%. I knew the answers to another 3 questions but I second guessed myself and got them wrong! Write back and let me know how you all did!

Enjoy!
Jason
